Abby’s Message
The mountainside looked down over the silent dirt road below
While the restless winds warned the trees of the soon impending snow
We sat together on that large rock for the last time you and I
Memories in my heart were heavy and some tears began to fly
A graying man and his dog a very special bond to the end
That only others with the same blessing can truly understand
Not the same as a boy and his pup, though that love still runs deep
But the knowledge that time was passing made our tie strong if bittersweet
Live in the moment is what you taught me each and every day
Sniff, chew, bark and roll in whatever adventure comes your way
So we lived in the moment with runs and walks and rides by car
And with you by my side the years we covered never seemed far
And now here on this rock a fitting place for us to say goodbye
Where the moon and sun will watch over you from their far away skies
So I opened that small box where your ashes so quietly lay
And raised you to the wind who silently spirited you away
Now you can be free in the land we once walked and called home
And your spirit alongside the bear and deer can run and far roam
Live in the moment is what you taught me each and every day
Sniff, chew, bark and roll in whatever adventure comes your way
